The Life We Live
by Victoria Bryant

Why do young teens fail to achieve?
Is it because we lack moral goals?
The dreams we vision should grab us and take hold.
Why let go of a successful vision of life?
We should all struggle, reach, and thrive
in this unwise world.
But young females throw their bodies at men.
Don't they know they're swimming
in a pool of sin?
Your life does not stop here.
Be reborn-a positive life on earth begin!
Rosa Parks stood up for her rights
and you give up your rights
by backing down from what's right.
The mirror never lies.
Look into it and see who you are.
Exchange the rock in your life
for a shining star.

{Victoria read this poem at a poetry competition at Gates Chili High School in Rochester, New York, and she won First Place for her reading. Victoria is doing what Rosa Parks did a long time ago: standing up for what she believes is true. Thus, we have a powerful poem, poet, and future leader.}
