My Own World

by Saduni Wanniarachchi
(Age 12, now)
Sri Lanka

If I had a world of my own,
It would be ruled by me.
There would be so many things to do,
And you would never see me moan.

My castle would be ruby red.
I would have my own library.
There would be flowers all over my bed.
And there would be a Queen Fairy.

King is my Dad.
Queen is my Mum.
That won't be bad.
Shops would be all gum.

The longest river would be sweet honey.
Every day in my land would be sunny.
The tallest mountain would be Ice Lolly
And my world would be very jolly.

(Joe's commentary: I've saved this poem for awhile. Don't we all dream about our “own world” at times, just the way we like it? Congratulations, Saduni! Your poem with four verses and four lines in each verse is very interesting.)
