Turning Scripts Off in Netscape and MS Internet Explorer

Netscape

  1. From the menu bar, pull down the Edit menu.

  2. From the Edit menu, click on Preferences.

  3. From the Preferences page, click on Advanced in the hierarchical display on the left of the screen.

  4. With Advanced selected, uncheck the entry "Enable JavaScript" on the right side of the page.

  5. Click on the OK button at the bottom of the page.

  6. Return to the web page and click on the Reload button.

  7. When through testing, reverse the procedure to reenable JavaScript.

Microsoft Internet Explorer

Note: If your network administrator has installed custom security settings, please confer with him/her before modifying your security level.

  1. From the menu bar, pull down the Tools menu.

  2. From the Tools menu, select Internet Options.

  3. From the Internet Options page, click on the Security tab to display the Security page.

  4. Make a note of the current security settings; you will need this information to reset them when you are through testing.

  5. Click on the button for Custom Level.

  6. From the list of items that displays, scroll down to the section on Scripting and disable Active Scripting.

  7. Click on the OK button at the bottom of the page.

  8. Return to the web page and click on the Refresh button.

  9. When through testing, pull down the Tools menu.

  10. From the Tools menu, select Internet Options.

  11. From the Internet Options page, click on the Security tab to display the Security page.

  12. If your initial setting was "Medium" which is the install default, then click on the Default Level button at the bottom of the page to reset it.
